(thoughts)

"Before the beautiful-no, not really before but within the beautiful-the whole person quivers. He not only 'finds' the beautiful moving; rather, he experiences himself as being moved and possessed by it."
- Hans Urs von Balthasar

"Everywhere I go, I'm asked if I think the universities stifle writers. My opinion is that they don't stifle enough of them. There's many a best seller that could have been prevented by a good teacher."
- Flannery o'Connor

"Christians are called to leave behind, in the tomb of Jesus Christ, all that belongs to the brokenness and incompleteness of the present world. It is time, in the power of the Spirit, to take up our proper role, our fully human role, as agents, heralds, stewards of the new day that is dawning."
- NT Wright

"When we think our brother or sister has sinned against us, such an affront is not just against us but against the whole community. A community established as peaceful cannot afford to let us relish our sense of being wronged without exposing that wrong in the hopes of reconciliation."
- Stan Hauerwas

"Advertising treats all products with the reverence and the seriousness due to sacraments."
- Thomas Merton

"All the believers were of one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possesions was their own, but they shared everything that they had."
- Acts of the Apostles

"For evil men account those things alone evil which do not make men evil; neither do they blush to praise good things, and yet to remain evil among the good things they praise. It grieves them more to own a bad house than a bad life, as if it were man's greatest good to have everything good but himself."
- St. Augustine

stuff and things

I'm thinking about so many things right now, I'm having problems figuring out what to post on this thing. I don't know if I'm the only one having this problem but it's annoying... So many transitions, I am a bit lost as to where I should begin again.

I'm thinking about christian community and reconciliation. As the church, we cannot make any sort of disciplinary movement or action without the acknowledgement of full restoration. Afterall, that is what redemption is about, is it not? Naturally following this assertation, to what extent does this apply to our personal lives? As hard as it may be, I think it transfers completely over. Although we may not see the possibility of personal restoration ever actualized, we must not rule out the possibility of it, if not even actively pursue it. Although this does not apply in all cases, it is a general rule to follow, I think.

I'm thinking about what it means to be a follower of God in the way of Jesus in the 21st century
American West. I am having trouble figuring out what exactly that means... I know what would help me but it is just so difficult right now. I'm in a very strange position... I would rather discuss this in person than over the internet. But you all may as well know what's on my mind, right? ;P

I'm thinking about next fall. I think I know what I want to do but I doubt I can do it... I may be stuck in Idaho for the rest of my undergrad. Suck!

Well, that's all folks.

Just go where you think your most needed, and your gifting can be best used. Above all, don't worry about the money, that's when you limit God's power, plus if you just plant a seed of one thousand dollars...
